2023 GMC Sierra 1500

The Sierra 1500 comes in eight trim levels: Pro, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, AT4X, Denali, and Denali Ultimate. It's available as a single, double, and four-door crew cab, and its cargo beds range in length from 5.8 to 8.2 feet. The Pro is the only trim that offers all three cab configurations, while the SLT is available only with a crew cab. The AT4 and AT4X are Sierra's dedicated off-road options, and the Denalis are the luxury trims.

The Sierra lineup is powered by four engine options. They include a 310-horsepower, four-cylinder, 2.7 turbo high-output engine, as well as a 5.3-liter V-8, a 6.2-liter V-8, and a 3-liter turbodiesel engine. The four-cylinder engine pairs with an eight-speed transmission, while the 5.3-liter V-8 can be paired with a six-, eight-, or 10-speed transmission. The 6.2-liter and turbodiesel engines both come solely with a 10-speed transmission. Towing capacity varies according to engine size and trim level, but the Sierra can tow up to 13,200 pounds and support a payload of up to 2,240 pounds.

The GMC Sierra is a capable pickup that provides a smooth ride, handles well, and has impressive stopping power. The AT4X models have an upgraded suspension, locking front and rear differentials, and spool-valve dampers for off-roading. Meanwhile, the Denali trims boast a premium suspension with Adaptive Ride Control. Rear-wheel drive is standard on the SLT and below models, and four-wheel drive is standard on the Denali, AT4, and AT4X trims. Depending on the trim level and engine, the Sierra can get up to 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.

The Sierra boasts a comfortable interior complete with high-quality materials and easy-to-reach controls. Starting with the SLE trim, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel comes standard. Interior storage is plentiful, and numerous compartments are large enough to hold a variety of items. The Denali Ultimate, the highest trim, features open-pore wood paneling and leather-covered surfaces, and the front seats have 16 power adjustments and massage functions. Available features include wireless phone charging, additional power points, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, and more.

The Sierra has a host of safety features that help provide a secure ride. Some key standard safety features include forward-collision warning, automated emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. It has a voice recognition system that allows drivers to make adjustments, such as modifying the climate control system, changing the radio station, and answering the phone without taking their hands off the wheel. GM's Super Cruise hands-free-driving technology is optional on Denali trims, and it works on over 200,000 miles of roads across the United States and Canada.
