Car buyer reviewing extended warranty options with dealership representative

What's Covered Under GMC and Buick's Extended Warranties?

Your GMC is a wise investment, and you want to protect it and retain its value. One of the best ways to do this is an extended warranty. This type of warranty extends the coverage of your new limited warranty and gives you future peace of mind. Repair and service costs can add up, which makes a warranty extension option good value for money. As your GMC dealer, we want to tell you more about your available options. Advice From Your GMC Dealer: Extended Warranty Plans Limited Warranty When you buy your new GMC, it's covered by several warranties already. Let's take a look at the details. Bumper-to-Bumper Warranty This warranty applies for the first three years or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first. It covers your car against any defect in workmanship or materials. The warranty also covers your tires in the event of a defect, but does not include normal wear and tear. It also covers towing costs to your nearest authorized dealership. The warranty doesn't cover routine maintenance or damage from accidents. Powertrain Warranty This warranty focuses on your engine, transmission, and powertrain. It covers these components for the first five years or 60,000 miles, whichever occurs first. It protects you against defects in workmanship or materials. Again, the warranty doesn't apply to maintenance or accidental damage. Some items like hoses, wiring, and sensors are excluded from coverage. Corrosion Protection This warranty protects against rust through on all body and sheet metal on your vehicle. It applies for the first six years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Corrosion Protection This warranty protects you against any corrosion on the body or sheet metal for the first three years or 36,000 miles. Extension Options There are three different plans to add extra protection for your GMC. These are the powertrain warranty, the silver warranty, and the platinum warranty. We'll look at each of them in turn. Powertrain Warranty This warranty covers your engine, transmission, drivetrain, and hybrid/EV systems. Silver Protection Plan This warranty includes everything covered by the powertrain warranty and adds protection for climate control, front suspension, rear suspension, and your electrical, braking, and steering systems. Platinum Protection Plan This is the most comprehensive plan and includes everything in the silver plan and adds your audio, high-tech, and navigation systems. It includes coverage of over 1,500 parts. The extended protection plans also include roadside assistance, rental car coverage, and trip interruption. You can choose extensions from two years or 24,000 miles to five years or 60,000 miles. The different plan options and terms have a monthly fee and can include a deductible subject to your choice. 7 Things to Know About the 2024 GMC EV Hummer SUV

The GMC EV Hummer SUV is an exciting new vehicle with a lot of advanced technology. This SUV gets up to 314 miles of electric range without sacrificing power. It has available Crabwalk and Super Cruise technology features. Drivers will want to learn more about this interesting new option on the market. 7 Things to Know About the 2024 GMC EV Hummer SUV 1. Up to 314 Miles Electric Range The Ultium battery in both trim levels offers an EPA estimated 314 miles maximum electric range on one full charge. This number was calculated on vehicles without the Extreme Off-Road Package, which may impact your mileage. Thanks to Regen on Demand, drivers can extend the SUV's electric range. This is done by holding a paddle on the steering wheel while the vehicle decelerates. This triggers the use of regenerative braking technology, which recharges the battery while you drive. This helps drivers reach the true maximum electric range for the Hummer. 2. Powerful The EV Hummer does not sacrifice power. This vehicle delivers up to 830 horsepower. It also produces up to 11,500 lb.-ft of torque. 3. Available Crabwalk This SUV was designed with off-roading in mind. The available Crabwalk feature offers 4-wheel steering. Drivers have the ability to turn the rear wheels in the same direction as the front wheels. When activated and used at low speeds, Crabwalk allows drivers to move diagonally. This makes maneuvering the large SUV in tight trail spaces a lot easier. 4. Available Super Cruise This driver assistance technology makes it possible for drivers to take their hands off the wheel. This hands-free driving technology can be used on compatible roads. There are 400,000 miles of compatible roadways in the United States and Canada. The feature requires a subscription. Fortunately, the new EV Hummer comes with a 3-year subscription to this service included. 5. High Definition Screens This SUV comes with a 13.4-inch touchscreen for infotainment mounted in the center of the dashboard. It also comes with a 12.3-inch diagonal driver information gauge with 3D graphics. 6. Infinity Roof This SUV comes standard with an infinity roof, giving everyone inside the vehicle a clear view of the world around them. There's also an option to add modular sky panels. These transparent panels create an even more immersive experience for everyone as you take to the trails. 7. Power eTrunk This large storage area is under the hood of this SUV. It offers enough space to store the available sky panels or other sizable items as you head out on your next adventure. GMC has created an interesting new future for SUVs with the 2024 Hummer. This vehicle is proving popular with drivers who love technology. Visit Crain Buick GMC of Springdale now to see our selection of new vehicles.

The Super Cruise system provides you with fantastic driving assistance not only in the form of speed and distance management but also with hands-free control, even when towing. On compatible roads, Super Cruise even allows automatic lane changing, although not while towing. Trailering System Indeed, there is even more help for pulling a trailer with the Prograde Trailering System. The functions include a hitch guidance view and trailer blind zone alert. sparkplug

How Often Should You Change Your GMC or Buick's Spark Plugs?

Firing off 400 times per minute, spark plugs are extraordinarily busy car parts. While you're driving, your plugs ignite the fuel inside your engine's cylinders non-stop, working at this furious pace for years on end. But various issues eventually dirty the plugs, causing them to fail. Let's look at how long plugs usually last and also some common signs that you need to visit your local GMC dealer for new plugs right away. How Often Should You Change Your GMC or Buick's Spark Plugs? Copper and Nickel Plugs The most common plugs are made from copper or nickel. These usually last a good 30,000 to 50,000 miles before they need replacing. Check with the plug manufacturer to see how often they recommend replacements. But take their suggestion with a pinch of salt, as they're likely to recommend buying new plugs more often than necessary. Platinum and Iridium Plugs Higher-end plugs made from platinum or iridium have a much lengthier lifespan. They usually last around 100,000 miles and can even last as long as 150,000 miles. As these materials are far harder than copper or nickel, the plugs don't wear down as rapidly. They also run a good deal hotter, which helps burn away the deposits of excess fuel or fuel additives that tend to build up and foul plugs, causing their early demise. Replace When You Notice Plug Trouble When a plug starts to fail, it can lead to more costly problems in your engine and exhaust system. You'll avoid such trouble by looking out for the key signs of a failing plug and having it cleaned or replaced promptly. A bad plug causes its cylinder to misfire, which you'll experience as a stuttering, coughing, and juddering engine, especially when you pause in idle. If more than one plug fails, you might stall and even have trouble starting again. A misfiring engine loses power, so your acceleration will be sluggish, and you might find it difficult to cross intersections as quickly as you'd like. Your gas mileage will also drop, and if the problem persists for a while, you might even start to see black smoke pouring out of your exhaust. And finally, the check engine light on your dashboard will light up, prompting you to visit a technician. How a GMC Dealer Checks Your Plugs The number one cause of plug failure is contamination from dirt or excess fuel. So a technician will first clean the area around the plug, remove it, and check inside the socket for dirt or fuel deposits. They'll then visually examine the plug to see if it has been fouled, cracked, or burned up from age and overuse. They'll also test its functionality by having someone run the engine while they watch the plug for the strong blue sparks it should produce. They can also test the plug directly with a multimeter. A damaged plug can sometimes be revived by cleaning away deposits, but you'll usually need to replace it. Have your plugs inspected and replaced today at Crain Buick GMC of Springdale. We're the number-one dealership for Buick and GMC vehicles in Springdale and the surrounding region.

6 Car Maintenance Tips to Keep Your Buick or GMC Car in Great Shape

Your Buick or GMC is a superior, high-performance vehicle built to provide you with reliability and safety. To keep it that way, regular car maintenance from the certified technicians at your GMC dealer is essential. The following maintenance tips will help you to ensure that your Buick Enclave Essence or GMC Acadia always performs at its best. 6 Car Maintenance Tips From Your GMC Dealer To Keep Your Buick or GMC Car in Great Shape 1. Familiarize Yourself With Your Vehicle's Owner's Manual Your vehicle's owner's manual has all the necessary information to keep your Buick or GMC in excellent running condition. Everything you need to know about the operation and maintenance of your vehicle is in your owner's manual, from the proper oil to use and tire pressure to the meaning of the dashboard warning lights. Most importantly, your owner's manual contains your car's service schedule and maintenance intervals. 2. Follow the Service Schedule Your vehicle has a service schedule and maintenance intervals to help you keep your car in excellent running condition. When you follow the maintenance intervals and rely on expert maintenance services from certified technicians, you will save money on gas and repairs, and your car will last longer. 3. Change the Oil at the Recommended Intervals One of the essential maintenance services is oil changes. Engine oil lubricates the moving components under the hood, reduces friction, and optimizes your engine's performance. Regular oil changes with the proper grade of oil at the recommended intervals will increase your vehicle's fuel efficiency and protect your engine. 4. Keep an Eye on the Oil Life Monitoring System (OLMS) The Oil Life Monitoring System (OLMS) monitors your speed, engine temperature, engine revolutions, and mileage and will alert you when your Buick or GMC needs an oil change. When the "Change Engine Oil Soon" message comes on, schedule an appointment for an oil change as soon as possible. Even with OLMS alerts, replace your car's oil at least every 12 months because oil deteriorates over time, becomes dirty, and doesn't provide sufficient lubrication, which will increase wear and cause overheating. 5. Fit Genuine Buick and GMC Replacement Parts When your car needs replacement parts, it's always best to use parts specifically manufactured for your vehicle. Genuine Buick and GMC parts will provide you with reliable, long-lasting performance. You can conveniently shop for parts online on our website, and the part specialists will help you find the right replacement part for your car. 6. Rely on Expert Maintenance and Repair Services To ensure that you enjoy every mile behind the wheel of your Buick or GMC, rely on expert maintenance and repair services from the certified technicians at our dealership. Our technicians use advanced technology and cutting-edge equipment, fit genuine Buick and GMC parts, and guarantee services of the highest quality that you can rely on to keep your vehicle fuel-efficient, safe, and on the road for years to come. Call Crain Buick GMC of Springdale today to schedule an appointment, and our certified and experienced technicians will take expert care of all your vehicle's automotive needs.

Is Your Buick or GMC Vehicle Having Electrical Problems?

Your Buick has numerous electrical systems, from the spark plugs that ignite combustion to the radio and seat heating. All these systems depend on a steady flow of electricity. Damaged connectors, worn wiring, and a failing alternator are some of the problems a car can experience if it's not regularly serviced. Your Buick dealer can fix any electrical problems, and these are a few signs that you need to see us for repair. Electrical Problems? See Your Buick Dealer Today Damaged Wiring and Connectors Your car contains over a mile of electrical wiring connecting each component to the alternator. These wires are covered in plastic and rubber coating to protect them against dirt, water, and other contamination. Wiring in your car, unlike wiring in your home, is subject to stresses like water, dirt, movement, and heat. These environmental factors can cause wiring damage. Frayed or damaged wiring can cause systems to fail, as a particular component loses its access to the electrical supply. The electrical resistance from the damaged wiring can cause the wiring to overheat and burn. Burning wiring can damage other components and result in an engine fire if the problem isn't fixed. We can trace the wiring and replace any damaged sections. Worn Alternator The alternator is probably the most critical part of the electrical system, responsible for generating electricity for your car. Alternators are designed to work continuously, transforming mechanical energy into electrical energy. An alternator will last for approximately eight years before it needs replacement. Failures by other components, like a damaged battery, can reduce the alternator's lifespan. A worn alternator produces less electricity, as its bearings can fail, the stator become damaged, and it suffers metal fatigue. The reduced supply of electricity from the alternator will cause problems like dim bulbs, electrical glitches, and eventually a dead battery. Our technicians will test your alternator and repair or replace it to fix this problem. Blown Fuses All electrical systems in your car have fuses. These fuses protect their component by absorbing the electricity from shorts or any overload in the electrical system. The fuse will absorb the rogue electrical charge and blow out. A blown fuse blocks the flow of the current, protecting the component from damage. The blown fuse also blocks regular electricity flow to the component, and until the fuse is replaced, the affected component won't work. We can easily test blown fuses and quickly replace them for you. These are just a few possible electrical issues. Problems in the electrical system can also appear to be caused by other faults. If you experience any strange electrical issues with your Buick, call our service department right away at Crain Buick GMC of Springdale.

3 Signs Your Car Needs a New Catalytic Converter

Your car's catalytic converter use pressure, heat, and chemical reactions to convert dangerous chemicals produced by the engine into less harmful ones. In time, your converter may become blocked or damaged, and you'll need a replacement. When this happens, your Buick dealer and GMC dealer can help you. These are a few of the signs that your converter could be wearing out. 3 Signs You Need a New Catalytic Converter From Your Buick Dealer and GMC Dealer Rattling Noises Anytime you hear rattling noises in a car, it's automatically a sign that something is damaged or broken. If the sound is coming from your converter, the converter's internal structure is likely breaking down. The inside of your converter consists of a honeycomb structure. Inside this honeycomb, noxious gases are converted into safer ones. Damage and wear can produce cracks in the honeycomb over time. These cracks can lead to part of the structure breaking off. Any damage to part of a honeycomb reduces the strength of the remaining sections. The rattling sounds are made by broken sections of the internal structure moving around inside the converter as your car drives. We can't fix the honeycomb, but we can replace your converter. Clogged Converter The converter is part of the exhaust system. Once it's finished its conversion process, the newly-created chemicals are forced into the exhaust pipe. The conversion process generates byproducts, and these byproducts can clog the converter. Carbon and other chemicals can build up and block the exit to the exhaust system. If the exit is blocked, the toxic engine chemicals will be forced back into your engine. Their presence increases the fuel-air ratio, as they contain burnt fuel, sulfur, and other compounds. The increasing fuel-air mix in your engine can cause misfiring and damage to other components. Our technicians can clean the converter and unblock it to fix this problem. Sulfur Smell A rotten egg smell from your car always signals the presence of hydrogen sulfide. This toxic chemical is created through the mixing of sulfur compounds from the fuel in your engine with hydrogen in the air. If you smell this from your exhaust, it's a sign that your converter is damaged. Hydrogen sulfide is one of the chemicals the converter targets and changes into sulfur dioxide. The presence of hydrogen sulfide means your car would fail an emissions test. It also means our technicians need to examine your converter to find the cause of the problem. Once we've found the cause, we'll repair it. If your converter has been seriously damaged, we can install a new one for you. If your converter is showing signs of trouble, call us right away at Crain Buick GMC of Springdale.
