1. War Eagle Campground

Sitting on the expansive shores of Beaver Lake to the north of Springdale, this camping ground offers sunny, secluded campsites and a host of activities to discover. The campgrounds are open seasonally and offer fire rings, picnic tables, and full restroom facilities, all of which make for a comfortable and peaceful getaway by the lakeside.

There are several marinas close by that offer boat rental, making this a good starting point to explore the lake, whether it’s to fish its bountiful waters or to enjoy watching the unique birdlife of the region.

2. Withrow Springs

Named after the man who opened the area’s first grist mill, today this park is known for its miles of beautiful and scenic hiking trails. The freshwater springs are just the first of the natural wonders to enjoy, as the park also includes bat caves, enormous limestone bluffs, and fantastic wildlife.

The campsites are spread out through an area of shady woodland and are a mix of primitive and developed sites. The primitive sites are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis, but the developed sites with hookups can be reserved through the park website.

3. Lake Wedington

This lake is home to a range of fun recreational activities. Visitors can enjoy fishing, boating, and swimming on the lake itself, heading into the woods to brave the park’s mountain bike trails, or enjoy a relaxing stroll through the trees.

The campsites here do not have electrical hookups, however, all have fire rings, picnic tables, and a grill that campers can use. Several cabins can be rented by groups and the park includes a lodge that can accommodate up to 200 people.

4. Devils Den State Park

Known for its unique rock formations and caverns, this venerable state park includes a small lake perfect for fishing or boating and miles of hiking trails through the beautiful Ozark National Forest that surrounds the park. This park is also a must for mountain biking enthusiasts, as it hosts the Ozark Mountain Bike Festival every spring.

Camping here is a mixture of RV sites with full hookups, simple sites without hookups, and a handful of hike-in tent-only sites. 42 of the sites are located in the dedicated horse camp, so those with horses can easily explore the park’s bridle trails.
